The purpose of the F.A.C.E. Program is to promote a healthy diet and exercise plan to help young people improve school performance, establish positive health habits, and prevent diseases in adulthood. A second goal of the F.A.C.E. program is to work with parents/ guardians by providing programs aimed at improving nutrition and physical activities within their families.
The F.A.C.E. program consists of two phases:
1. Students in grades K-5 will attend a 2 hour session twice a week Tuesday/Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 to promote physical fitness and nutrition education.
2. Parent/Guardian will attend 1 session per week on Thursday evening for one hour (time to be determined). This session will provide nutrition education, fitness education and hands-on activities to promote nutrition and exercise within the home to develop and maintain healthy lifestyles.
A grant from the Mon Valley Education Consortium funded this program. For more info go to http://www.mvec.org
