I would like to take this opportunity to introduce
myself. I grew up and currently reside
in Monongahela with my husband Ron and two children Kristina and Matthew. I attended
Throughout my career, I have always enjoyed spending time educating people whether it is regarding disease process, cancer prevention early detection, or basic information such as hand washing and the spread of infection. I am always available to provide Health Education to both you and your children at Charleroi Elementary. The Pennsylvania Department of Health mandates me to perform various screenings for your children according to their grade level. I will only notify you if there is a problem with your child’s screening. If you do not hear from me, then I did not need to refer your child for further evaluation. However, even though the Pennsylvania Department of Health mandates that children at certain grades have screenings, physicals or dental exams completed, I am encouraging you to continue to take your children to pediatricians, dentists and optometrists on a routine basis. As your school nurse, I am not permitted to diagnose or treat problems but may ask you to take your children to a physician due to the symptoms I observe. I would encourage you to keep your child home if they have signs of illness. Although, sometimes it may be appropriate to send your child to school with sniffles or a sore throat if there is no fever. If you are uncertain if they should attend, you’re welcome to call me.
My goal is to help you to maintain the Health, Mind, and Spirit of your children. Your support and guidance would be greatly appreciated. There may be times that I do not have an answer but I can promise you that I will find the answer. I would like to thank you for letting me care for the most important people in your life, your children.
