Charleroi Area School District will
incorporate the STEM program within the science department in the middle and
high school. STEM uses science, technology, engineering, and math with
interdisciplinary, hands on activities requiring problem solving techniques. The
focus will be on a Lego Renewable Energy Set, Robotics, and designing sensing
units for use in several visitations to our local watershed, which is part of
the Stream Stewardship Grant received by the middle school. High school students
will participate in this grant using TOPCON surveying equipment to document the
topography, physical changes, and general characteristics of our local streams.
The goal is to use QR codes for permanent signage at the three stream sites
which CMS/Washington County Conservation monitors.
