Marie Repepi Middle School and High School Nurse The diverse needs of today’s student population,
as well as the passage of some state and federal legislation have led
to increased complexity in educational systems. As these systems have
become more complex organizations, professional support personnel, such
as the school nurse, are increasingly involved in unique roles that are
tangential to and supportive of the educational process |

Responsibilities of School Nursing Process -Uses a systemic approach to problem solving in nursing practice. -Contributes to the education of the students by assembling the student, planning and providing appropriate nursing care, and evaluating the identified outcomes of care. -Uses effective written, verbal and nonverbal communication skills as a positive strategy to achieve nursing goals. -Establishes and maintains a comprehensive school health program. -Collaborates with other school professionals and other caregivers, parents to meet the health, development and educational needs of students. -Collaborates with members of the community in the delivery of health and social services, and utilizes knowledge of community health systems and resources to function as a school community liaison. -Assists students, families and the school community to achieve optimal levels of wellness through appropriately designed and delivered health education. -Contributes to nursing and school health through innovations inn practice and participation in research. -Completes requirements mandated by the state for each student.
