Basketball Scrimmages Closed to Spectators

We’re sure you are aware of the recent rise in COVID-19 cases in Washington, Greene and surrounding counties. This is impacting our community. The exposure and risk also directly affects our ability to operate our schools.

According to the CDC, in-person gatherings that do not properly follow health protocols are at higher risk of spreading COVID-19. The CDC, State and County Health Departments have discouraged the public from gathering in groups to mitigate the spread of disease.

With the home basketball scrimmages quickly approaching, we know parents, siblings and peers will be interested in attending. However, at this time all home basketball scrimmages will be closed to spectators.

As a school district, we have a responsibility to ensure the safety of our students, families and staff. In order to help do our part to further reduce the spread of COVID-19 and ensure the health and safety of our student athletes and coaches, we are closing all scrimmages.

Our first home regular season games won’t begin until December 11, 2020. We will wait a few weeks to review Covid 19 transmission data before we decide if spectators can attend home games at Charleroi Area School District.

Sincerely,

Brady Barbero

Athletic Director

Charleroi Area School District
