Title I Right to Know
At Charleroi Area School District, we are very proud of our teachers and feel they are ready for the coming school year and are prepared to give your child a high-quality education. As a Title I school, we must meet federal rules related to teacher qualifications as defined in No Child Left Behind. These rules allow you to learn more about your child's teachers' training and credentials. We are happy to provide this information to you. At any time, you may ask:
- Whether the teacher met state qualifications and certification requirements for the grade level and subject he/she is teacher,
- Whether the teacher received an emergency or conditional certificate through which state qualifications were waived, and
- What undergraduate or graduate degrees the teacher holds, including graduate certificates and additional degrees, and major(s) or area(s) of concentration.
You may also ask whether your child receives help from a paraprofessional. If your child receives this assistance, we can provide you with information about the paraprofessional's qualifications.
Our staff is committed to helping your child develop the academic knowledge and critical thinking he/she needs to succeed in school and beyond. That commitment includes making sure that all of our teachers and paraprofessionals are highly skilled.
If you have any questions about your child's assignment to a teacher or paraprofessional, please contact Carla Herrnberger at 724-483-3509, extension 1217.
Parent Involvement Policy
The Charleroi Area School District recognizes that a child's education is the responsibility shared by the school and family. We agree to educate all students by working cooperatively together.
We define parent and family involvement as an on-going process that assists parents and families to meet their basic obligation as their child's first educator. We promote clear two-way dialogue between home and school. The Charleroi Area School District supports parents as leaders and decision makers at all levels concerning the education of their children.
Thus, a written plan for Title I parent involvement that establishes programs and practices to enhance parent involvement (and reflects the needs of students and families) has been jointly developed by parents and school staff. It provides a sense of direction for designing initial and on-going activities. This plan includes a school-parent compact and supports the development, implementation and regular evaluation of the parent involvement program. Implementation of this plan will be a priority of our school community.
